The Neurokin Blog - where to begin?

I find it hard to start a story. I need to tell you the 27,537 paths which have led to a moment. It is overwhelming. And leads to a lot of stories never being told.

I am learning to start and trust that where I start is the right place. Or perhaps, A place.

And I am learning a lot more about how my brain works and that pieces of information are incredibly illuminating and context-giving. Like that Neurodivergent brains are less trimmed in places (and more trimmed in others) than Neurotypical brains which means that I am wired to see more connections between seemingly-random things than others and also that my brain is working more than others because of how it is wired. Which is overwhelming and magical and exhausting.

And I want a place to lay down some of this information as I find it. To reflect on it and say, “here’s what that feels like in my life.” To find weird and wonderful connections between the pieces. To hear others takes on it. To be a place for others discovering their Neurodivergences to come and explore. And for Neurotypicals to come and learn more about us.

I have been Autistic and ADHD for 42 years, I have suspected that for a couple of years, had a medical diagnosis for 6 months. I am a Mum to Neurodivergent kids. I am studying my Masters of Counselling so that I can work with Neurodivergent adults and the parents of Neurodivergent kids. Neurodivergence is one of my SpIns (Special Interests). I love writing and find that often through the process of writing I make sense of life. And I just had lunch cancelled which opened up space for me to start this idea which has been buzzing for months.

And so, The Neurokin Blog.
